Rest In The Presence Of The Lord

by Jimmy Carrier

I WILL BLESS THE Lord who has given me council; yes, my heart instructs me in the night season. I have set the Lord continually before me; because He is at my right hand, I shall not be moved. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory (my inner self) rejoices; my body too shall rest and confidently dwell in safety. For you will to abandon me to Sheol (the place of the dead) neither will you suffer your holy one (Holy One) to see corruption. You will show me the path of life; in your presence is fullness of joy, at your right hand there are pleasures forevermore. Amplified

You, Lord, will show me the path of life. In your presence is the

fullness of joy. At your right hand there are pleasures forever more. We can find ourselves so anxious about things that come in our lives, all the pressures put on us and all the expectation we have for ourselves that we become stressed totally out. God is teaching us to enter into rest and to trust Him that whatever we have to do or face, He is right there and wilt supply all we need in that moment. The provision will be there in that moment, not always beforehand.

This passage also says that God instructs you in the night season. Even when we sleep God can tell us what to do. God gives as council even in the night. The night season can also be a time of adversity or trial and God wilt instruct as right in the midst of these seemingly dark circumstances to show us how to walk in the pathway of His life. Who is the path of life? Jesus. He is our way, the truth, and the life.

Verse 2 says in the presence of God there is fullness of joy. God is making us more aware of His presence all the time. God is present everywhere all over the earth but people are not always aware of Him. Even though, we the Body of Christ belong to Him sometimes we are not even aware of His presence. Not just the people who don't know Jesus bat the people of God are stressed to the max. Why? Because we let ourselves get in strife, stress, and anxiety. If we were aware of His presence we would not find ourselves getting into these situations.

How do we walk and live stress free? Some stress and tension is good. It can cause us to rise to a challenge. II can stretch us and make you grow in a lot of ways. It is when we have continued stress with no place to put all that extra adrenaline created that we start to have trouble. This extra stress starts to cause problems in our physical body and the reactions of oar soul, which are our mind, will and emotions. People in the Body of Christ are having panic attacks, depression, worried minds or other emotional problems. This is a sign that we still don't know who we are in Christ Jesus. We can't just keep repeating, " You are the light of the world and the salt of the earth" if we don't believe this or take God's word and mix it with faith. It will never work as we walk out our lives if we don't make this word life to us personally in our everyday living experience.

We believe this is a day that God is overwhelming us with His presence. As I sat with a friend and talked about the Lord in a restaurant a few days ago, the presence of God was there is m such a tangible strong expression my friend and I both found ourselves weeping and overcome in His joy and presence. In this place of being overwhelmed with the presence of God we no longer cared about our surroundings or who was looking. Everything else was swallowed up and it became all about Him. It would do all of us good to be totally overwhelmed in God when we come together that we weep or it causes our feet to move, we laugh or we lift our hands. One of the things that relieves tension is to be like a child. We are not to be childish, but be able to laugh and let ourselves play. We need not be so serious or staunch all the time. Most children aren't concerned about the power bill or how the stock market is doing. They aren't concerned with the next meal or what they will wear. Why? Because they trust. Most children have loving parents that take care of those things and they never have to give it thought. Being a child is stress free. We need to gel down in the floor and play with our children or grandchildren. If you don't have any, borrow some and just play and laugh together. Laughter is a great tension reducer and it helps release the joy of the Lord that is already in us.

We need to quit holding ourselves in so tight and just be able to let ourselves go when we feel we are becoming overly stressed. Get together with your friends or family and just play, relax and rest. Sometimes even though we sleep at night we are still not resting. There are people who can sleep for most of the day and night that are very anxious, depressed or troubled. They are asleep but they are not at rest.

To put tension on something means to make it stretch or tight. To release means to let go. God has put something else in as that helps reduce stress. God gave us breath. The words for Spirit in Hebrew and Greek means breath, current of air, or wind. God breathe His breath into man and gave man His life. Every time we take a breath it should be a reminder that God Himself breathe His life into us. God's presence is in us and fills us up. Take some really deep breathes several times, exhale and just relax. This is God's reminder to us that it is in Him we move, we breathe and have our being.

Thessalonians 5:23,24 And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you through and through (separate you from profane things, make you pure and wholly consecrated to God); and may your spirit, soul and body be preserved sound and complete ( and found) blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah). Faithful is He who is calling you( to himself) and utterly trustworthy, and He will also do it ( fulfill His call by hallowing and keeping you) Amp. How are we going to he preserved? We are preserved by the faithfulness of God. How much of us are going to he preserved? Our whole being, spirit, soul and body. God does not want just part of us preserved and blameless unto Him but our whole being.

One way to get into a deep satisfying rest is to worship and praise. You can not magnify the Lord and magnify your problems at the same time. Whatever you magnify increases. If you magnify the problem and not the answers or if you magnify your condition it wilt just increase. You will take a worm and make it a dragon. We magnify God by meditating on who God says He is and who we are in Him. We magnify God by singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. We come into His gates with thanksgiving and into His courts with praise. We then find ourselves enveloped in His presence. Everything else, every worry, fear or concern is suddenly gone because it was consumed in Him. We took a vacation and never called a travel agent, packed a suitcase or rode in a vehicle. We found rest and Joy in the Presence of the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords, the Good Shepherd and lover of our souls. We will find we are rested and energized to be able to fulfill His purpose in us.

Do we believe these things? If you believe God can do this be like Mary in Luke 2. Say, " Lord, let it be done unto me according to your word." Do we believe God's word that says even our youth can be renewed tike that of the eagles or do we believe we are getting old and tired. Do we believe we are the generation that will be alive and remain at His coming or do you believe we only have a few more years till we die and go to heaven? If God is in you, where is heaven? Do you believe the mortal things are now putting on immortality? Everything God says we are individually and corporately is truth if we believe it. To believe is to move, to do, to be. We can't just hear these truths and ways of life God has provided for us and not act on them and make it practical in our everyday life. Faith always does something.

There are some things in our lives that are stealing our energy. We need to let these go. There are some lifestyles we need to let go. There are also some things we need to add into our lives that are energy givers. Just ask the Holy Spirit about what needs to go or be added, then do what He says. God made us and He knows what we need.

It is in 'learning' of Jesus that we will find real for our souls and our bodies. We must know we are everything He says we are and can do everything He says we can do. Knowing these things will give us strength and vitality. These truths wilt change our perspectives and give us His ability to produce His purpose in us and through us. We wilt operate oat of His rest and oar souls wilt be at rest

Colossians 2:10 (Amp.) And you are in Him (Jesus), made full and come to fullness of life. (In Christ you too are filled with the Godhead, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit and reach full spiritual stature.) And Jesus is the head of all rule and authority (of every angelic principality and power). Amen
